Why should you use a primer?
Think of your face like a blank canvas—a quality makeup primer creates a smooth base to work your magic on. Apply the right primer and then add a lightweight foundation and you have a flawless finish. For those with more mature skin—dealing with fine lines, loss of elasticity, and hyperpigmentation (a.k.a. dark spots) means looking for products that help compliment agin skin and target discoloration and blemishes. It’s important to look for ingredients that are specially formulated to smooth, brighten, and hydrate skin.
“The key is to look for hydrating ingredients, as well as pore and line-filling silicones,” says Pucker. “Silicone-based primers are great for filling in lines and pores, hydrating primers with ingredients like hyaluronic acid can plump up the skin, and primers with optical blurring powders can help diffuse the look of wrinkles and imperfections.” Read: Less creasing and a smooth canvas for makeup. Just be aware that silicone is known to clog pores, so this isn’t the best pick for the acne-prone skin. And don’t forget to skip sunscreen, a must for preventing and diminish signs of aging.
