16 Trending Winter Haircuts You Need to Try This Season

From the short doll bob to the mid-length and layered fairy cut, you can’t go wrong with any of this year’s coolest winter haircuts.

While everything from chic short chops to ultra-long layers and shags are trending for the season ahead, if pros had to pick just one of the biggest winter haircuts to watch out, it would have to be bangs.

“Bangs, which professionals refer to as a fringe, are coming into this season in a big way,” Michelle Cleveland, celebrity hairstylist, extensions artist, educator, and owner of Hair Addict Salon & Extension Bar, tells Glamour. “With celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter rocking this look, it’s going to trickle down into the mainstream this winter.”

Olya Iudina, a hairstylist at IGK NYC, also points to Carpenter as a major hair inspiration for 2024 into 2025. ”We have to thank Sabrina Carpenter for being a great influencer of this look,” she says. “It’s voluminous and still very ’90s, an aesthetic that we all been enjoying lately.” Plus, bangs are pretty practical once the temperature cools down. “Now that hot and sweaty season is over, bangs become easier to manage,” Iudina adds.

As for the other looks we’ll be seeing tons of this winter? Lots of layers and super short crops like pixies and bobs. “Recently, I’m noticing my clients are coming in to chop off a good amount of hair,” says celebrity hairstylist Erik Jon. “Anything from right at the collarbone to shorter, just below or at jaw length, will give you the desired look!”

He adds that big chops are perfect for the new year: “Cutting off a good amount of hair symbolizes a fresh start or new chapter in life as you are getting rid of all the stagnant energy in your hair.”
