Jakub Kiwior is expecting to remain at Arsenal, according to CBS Sports sources, after a summer in which the Polish international was the subject of interest from a string of Serie A sides.
Kiwior, 24, has not featured in Arsenal’s first two games of the season, which had intensified speculation that he may yet depart the club. Bologna were said to be keen on his services while Juventus, Inter and AC Milan have also been keeping abreast of the defender’s status at the Emirates Stadium. Crystal Palace are also understood to be keen on Kiwior.

However, sources close to Kiwior have indicated to CBS Sports that it is extremely likely that the player will still be at Arsenal once the transfer window closes on Friday. Mikel Arteta is keen to keep a deep defensive roster that will allow him to rotate his options as the Gunners chase silverware on four fronts, while the ongoing absence of Takehiro Tomiyasu due to a knee injury has quelled Arsenal’s willingness to do business defensively, particularly as Jurrien Timber works his way back from issues of his own.
Departures from the Emirates Stadium are expected in the final days of the window, however. Fabio Vieira is set to finalise a loan move to Porto in the coming days while Eddie Nketiah is closing in on a deal worth nearly $40 million that will take him to Crystal Palace.
Mikel Merino’s imminent arrival will strengthen Arsenal in midfield but Arteta has made no secret of his desire to add attacking depth to his squad with a forward option being targeted in the remainder of the window.
