Exact Center of California in North Fork, California

Just one mile from the Fresno County line and seven miles by car from the United States Forest Service office in North Fork is the exact center of California. The location is marked by a sign and survey marker fixed to a rock and small stone platform.

Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada and near Yosemite National Park, the site is surrounded by natural beauty and other outdoor recreation. The geographic center of California is situated between North Fork and Italian Bar, which was named by Italian prospectors for its gold-rich gravel.
