Adam Sandler Crossed-Up the Oscars in $150 Basketball Kicks

Adam Sandler doesn’t really care what you think. In a 2024 interview, the actor was asked about his utterly singular personal style, which he distilled thusly: “Whatever’s in the closet, I grab it. I don’t think about it much. Most people make fun of me, but I keep moving.”

That method of dressing may sound a little chaotic, but it also makes a lot of sense. Life’s too short to sweat the small stuff; you should be able to wear whatever you want, whenever you want to. And at the Oscars last night, that’s exactly what the Sandman did.

Among the rows of exquisitely-dressed attendees, the Uncut Gems star stood out, even by his usual standards. So when he wrapped a Givenchy-clad Timothée Chalamet in a bear hug late in the evening, we couldn’t help but notice the splashy sneakers on his feet. In true Sandler fashion, the actor eschewed the queue-inducing sneakerhead fare in favor of genuine basketball kicks from Under Armour, a key player in the hoops arena.

Curry 11 Sneakers

Sandler’s silhouette of choice? The Under Armour Curry 11 in the ‘Championship Mindset’ colorway, which was first released last January. And judging by how trashed Sandler’s own pair is, he hasn’t taken them off since.

We don’t blame him. The Curry 11 is one of the most popular signature sneakers on the planet for a reason: among other features, it’s equipped with dual-density UA Flow cushioning, and a grippy Forefoot Pebax plate, which basically means it’s just as comfortable on the court as it is on the red carpet. Which, yes, is a sentence we never expected to write. But when it comes to Adam Sandler’s style, the only constant, of course, is exactly that.
