  1. The object of the game of baseball is to score runs by hitting the ball with a baseball bat and running around the bases to touch home plate.
  2. The first baseball game was on June 19,1846, at the Elysian Fields, where the New York Nine and New York knickerbockers played against each other.
  3. Baseball is often called the “National Pastime” in the United States, and it has been played in America since the mid-19th century.
  4. The New York Yankees have won the most World Series Championships in Major League Baseball history with a total of 27.
  5. Babe Ruth, who played for the New York Yankees, was one of the greatest baseball players of all time, famous for his 714 home runs and his charismatic personality.

  3. The Pittsburgh Pirates were one of the first teams in Major Leage Baseball, established in 1882, and they have won five World Series Championships throughout their history.
  4. Jackie Robinson was the first African American player to play in Major League Baseball, breaking the color barrier in 1947 when he signed with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
  5. The first World Series was played in 1903 between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Boston Americans (later the Red Sox), with the Americans winning the series.
