Over her custom, Maison Margiela Couture gown, Kardashian wore a gray cardigan around her shoulders, which she held in her hand at the front. People had questions such as: “Why?” and, “Wherefore?” and, “Does this involve Taylor Swift?”
Yes, some Swifties are convinced that either Kardashian is wearing the actual The Tortured Poets Department gray cardigan or she’s referencing Swift’s song, “Cardigan,” presumably as some sort of gotcha to her pop star nemesis. “Kimberly, please let us know why you wore a cardigan😭 assuming it’s because of Taylor Swift until further notice,” wrote one TikTok creator. Another TikToker noted, “This is how I know I’m too far gone as a Swiftie,” and suggested that maybe Kardashian is trying to make amends with a lil Easter egg.

Now, far be it from me to doubt the collective detective skills of the Swifties, but there is an explanation for the sweater that involves far less intrigue. The cardigan accessory is the same styling that Maison Margiela showed on the spring 2024 “Artisinal” couture collection runway, per Harper’s Bazaar. And, Kardashian offered her own explanation for the accessory in her red carpet interview with Vogue.
