Ed Sheeran Got His Hands on the Much-Hyped Pink MoonSwatch

Cruising around London on a massive pink bus is just another day in the office for Ed Sheeran. Part of the promo tour for “Azizam,” his first single in two years, it’s a big moment for the singer—one that requires a complementary watch flex.

By some remarkable coincidence, this week Omega and Swatch dropped the Mission to the Pink MoonPhase this week. Aside from Ryan Gosling’s Barbie TAG Heuer, you’ll struggle to find a more pink watch. So, which watch was the singer/songwriter rocking atop his giant pink bus? The hyped MoonSwatch, of course, perfectly matched with a fuzzy pink knit. If you’re wondering why so much pink, it could be one of two reasons. “Azizam” means “my dear” in Farsi. So it could be a loving address to his wife. But it could also be about the cupid-like “Ed Sheeran effect,” given the amount of people who get engaged at his gigs.

Here, Sheeran showed the brand-new MoonSwatch in all its glory. Three chronograph pushers and visible subdials nod to the OG Omega Moonwatch, and Sheeran has swapped out the muted pink velcro strap for a louder pink rubber strap because it wasn’t pink enough already. This isn’t Sheeran’s only MoonSwatch, either—he also owns the “Mission to the Moon” variation.

On the Mission to the Pink Moonphase, there’s a moonphase indicator at two o’clock and two moons that glow in the dark when they rotate. It also packs in a pulsometer, which you can use to measure your heart rate (just start the chronograph and count 30 beats before stopping it).

With all that and a $310 retail price, it makes sense that demand for the collaboration is insane. MoonSwatches have never been easy to get, but Sheeran’s Mission to The Pink Moonphase was particularly difficult to secure. It was released in line with the annual April pink moon cycle (a full moon that arrives in April and coincides with the blooming of pink flowers, hence the colour). But it wasn’t as straightforward as lining up outside the store to get one.

You had to track Swatch’s socials to see where the watch was dropping on April 1. Now, they’re selling for near $500 on the secondary market. Fair play to Sheeran, who managed to pick one up in the middle of a global press tour.

This kind of commitment to watchmaking is textbook Sheeran, whose watch collection spans G-Shock, AP, Rolex, and Patek Philippe. He’s previously worn the Mission to Moon edition. And back in 2023 he linked-up with G-Shock for a DW-6900 collab inspired by the album artwork for Subtract. Basically, he’s down for accessible grails as much as the crazy expensive ones.

If you needed any further convincing of this MoonSwatch’s grail appeal, look no further than Ed Sheeran, who matched his watch to his promo bus, and managed to secure one whilst on the road. This level of extra is always appreciated.
