Today, we’ll be folding a cute origami rabbit that’s perfect for beginners and kids of all ages! All you need to make this adorable origami bunny is a square piece of origami paper and a little bit of patience!
Remember, origami is more than just a paper craft – it’s a fun way to let children’s creative side out while helping them develop their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills! It also helps develop their spatial, analytical, and thinking skills.
This craft is suitable for beginners and kids aged 6 and above. It’s simple enough to follow along with, and the result is an adorable origami rabbit! Let’s get started.
Step 1
Start with a square piece of origami paper, in your favorite color. Place the white side down on the table.
Step 2
Fold the paper in half, from left to right. Then open it back up.
Step 3
Fold the paper in half again, but this time from top to bottom.
Step 4
Open it up again!
Step 5
Now fold the paper diagonally, from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. Open it up.
Step 6
Fold the paper diagonally again, from the top right corner to the bottom left corner. Open it back up.
Step 7
Now, take the left and right sides of the paper and squash-fold them towards the center to create a triangle shape. This can be a bit tricky, but just make sure the paper folds neatly into a triangle.
Step 8
With the triangle shape in front of you, fold the left corner up to meet the top tip of the triangle.
Step 9
Now fold the right corner up to meet the top tip of the triangle as well. That part should look like a diamond now.
Step 10
Take the left tip of the diamond and fold it towards the middle line of the paper.
Step 11
Repeat the previous step by folding the right tip of the diamond towards the middle line as well.
Step 12
Fold the top right corner downwards.
Step 13
Fold that same corner once more, this time towards the middle line of the paper.
Step 14
Now fold the top left corner downwards, just like you did on the right side.
Step 15
Fold that same left corner again, this time towards the middle line.
Step 16
On the right side of your paper, you’ll notice a small flap at the bottom. Take that flap and tuck it into the pocket created by the top flap.
Step 17
Repeat the previous step on the left side by tucking in the small flap into the top pocket.
Step 18
Flip your paper over so that the back side is now facing you.
Step 19
Fold the right side of the paper towards the center, aligning the edge with the middle.
Step 20
Now fold the left side of the paper towards the center as well. You’re almost done!
Step 21
Fold the bottom half of the right side outwards to create an ear.
Step 22
Do the same on the left side—fold the bottom half outwards to create the other ear.
Step 23
Fold the right side upwards. This will complete the bunny’s ear.
Step 24
Finally, fold the left side upwards to complete the second ear.
Step 25
