InPost acquires Yodel becoming one of UK’s largest delivery companies

InPost, known for its extensive parcel locker network, has acquired Yodel and in doing so becomes the third-largest agnostic logistics player in the UK.

The deal is designed to “redefine delivery in the UK by seamlessly integrating out-of-home and to-door solutions under one powerful brand”.

By combining the largest out-of-home (“OOH”) delivery network with Yodel’s home delivery capabilities, InPost will scale its operations, expand its service offering, and provide greater convenience to retailers and customers.

Following the transaction, InPost UK’s market share increased to c. 8%. This transaction follows the successful acquisition of Menzies Distribution in October 2024, which gave InPost full control over its entire logistics process in the UK.

Rafał Brzoska, founder, and CEO of InPost Group, said: “This acquisition marks a pivotal milestone in InPost’s journey to revolutionise the UK delivery market as well as the Group pan-European presence.

“We have just fast-forwarded five years of organic expansion in the UK and it is a clear reflection of our long-term commitment to this market, a market where we see enormous opportunity for growth. Our logistics model has transformed delivery in other European markets, and with this acquisition, we are now well positioned to do the same here.”

InPost has worked to encourage ecommerce retailers to offer OOH options. In September, it introduced its Collect service enabling retailers access to over 8,000 lockers with consumers choosing the option directly at checkout.

Data from the OOH operator showed consumers are looking at OOH delivery and with 73% of GenZ and millennial shoppers preferring lockers to parcel shops, lockers are the future. More than half of UK consumers have already used delivery lockers for online purchases, and this rises to 71% for Gen Zs and 68% for Millennials.
