King Eric's Golden Dove in Darłowo, Poland

King Eric VII was a king-turned-pirate who spent years pillaging the realm that he had once ruled over after being overthrown. Along with many treasures, he brought back a golden dove from the island of Gotland that was said to. hold the power of everlasting love. With this token, he remained happily married to his lifelong love Cecilia.

The original golden dove was buried with King Eric, but a reproduction has been cast and imbued with the same powers of romance.

Inside the courtyard of Darłowo Castle from which King Eric once ruled, the golden dove rests in a niche next to a plaque describing its story and importance. It is known that any couple that gently strokes the golden dove will stay together for all time, just like Cecilia and her pirate king.

Careful who you do this with, it just might work!
