Chrysler has issued a recall of more than 1.2 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a potential software malfunction.

The recall includes certain 2019 and 2021-2024 models.

What Led to the Recall

Due to a software malfunction, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module may disable the electronic stability control system. Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system can increase the risk of a crash.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) was first notified of the potential issue in Feb. 2024 and began investigating, according to NHTSA documents.

Documents did not state whether any warranty claims, incidents, or injuries had occurred due to the malfunction.

Dealers will update the ABS control module software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Oct. 3, 2024.
