With Gladiator II dropping in less than a month, Paul Mescal is hitting the press junket hard. After pulling up to the Academy Museum Gala over the weekend, the Irish actor jumped on the first flight from LA to NYC, where he held a special Q&A session at the AMC theater in Lincoln Square.
Balancing two different time zones ain’t easy. So rather than suiting up in his most recent set pieces, Mescal got cozy with an all-black crewneck sweater, a nice, normal menswear staple all guys, famous or otherwise, should own.
In typical Paul Mescal fashion, of course, this wasn’t just any black sweater. Designed by Amsterdam’s Extreme Cashmere, the N°361 Gemini is crafted from some of the finest cashmere on the planet, harvested from goats that live in inner Mongolia. Over there, the winters are particularly cold and the summers particularly hot, so the cashmere itself is super comfortable and super lightweight. (The dropped shoulders and raw-cut edges add a little visual interest, as a treat.)
Mescal wore his with custom trousers from Etch Suits, a Husbands belt, and blocky-heeled leather Chelsea boots by Jimmy Choo for an extra bit of oomph. At a little over $600, Extreme Cashmere’s luxed-up riff isn’t exactly cheap, but hey, it’s built to last, is endlessly versatile, and promises to imbue your texture-less fall fits with a jolt of red-carpet swagger. In case you’d rather not part with half a grand, though, we gathered a quartet of slightly more approachable options immediately below.
