If you told me there would come a day when I would seriously consider buying camo cargo pants, I’d immediately assume Rihanna wore camo cargo pants and made them look impossibly cool. Which is what she did in pap photos taken in New York City on July 23.

The Fenty founder was snapped in NYC wearing a head-to-toe borrowed-from-the-boys ’fit, with baggy cargo pants, a bright blue sports jersey, and running shoes. She wore her highlighted braids in a messy bun, with a couple of pieces framing her face in front. As city girls tend to do, she carried about a million things in her hands, including what appears to be a pair of sunglasses and one of her own Fenty lipsticks. She also toted a classic Gucci shoulder bag to finish the mismatched highbrow-lowbrow look.
The oversized trend is still as ubiquitous as ever, and that includes baggy pants. Cargo pants, however, are just now beginning to rise in popularity. They were seen on the 2024 spring/summer runways of brands like Isabel Marant and MSGM, but the ’90s style hasn’t truly taken off yet.
But now that they have been endorsed by Rihanna, will the other fashion girlies be bold enough to take a cue from the Bad Girl RiRi herself? I’m considering it.
