Team USA Gymnast Jordan Chiles Is Heading to Paris—Here’s What She’s Packing

Chiles is clearly no longer a “nobody.” Since Tokyo, she’s racked up a gold team medal and individual silver medals for floor and vault at the 2022 World Championships. Her popularity has also inked her deals with beauty and wellness brands—the latest being self-care brand Bliss.

Bliss Lemon Sage Body Butter

“I have always been a fan of the brand, especially the Bliss Lemon Sage Body Butter. It’s all about making sure your skin is healthy and being able to express yourself. Beauty is a huge thing within everybody, whether it’s skin care, your hair, your makeup. So I’ve really enjoyed Bliss from their skin care all the way to within the body as well.”

Ahead, Jordan Chiles shares her self-care rituals, Paris Olympics beauty must-haves, and the music that gets her hyped—plus, the greatest thing she admires about Serena Williams and teammate Simone Biles.

Glamour: When you are recovering from training and competition, there’s obviously a physical part but also a mental aspect. What do you do to take care of yourself mentally?

Jordan Chiles: I do a lot of physical therapy because I don’t want to be a hundred years old saying, “My body hurts still.” Whether it’s a massage, therapy for a joint, exercises…making sure my body is as healthy as possible and taking time to myself, really. I’m constantly in front of people 24/7, talking, doing interviews, so taking that self-care, self time. The self-care really comes down to what I am doing in that moment. A lot of the time, I take naps. Naps are really the biggest thing that I do. I will do the longest beauty skin care, hair care, body care, whatever it is. I will take a two-hour shower if I need to, to make sure mentally I can disconnect myself from my sport.

A lot of the time, I’ll play with my dogs. They’re my emotional support animals. They’re my little friends. They’re like kids to me, so I really take that into consideration. Being with family, having a good support system. My best friend has been my ride-or-die literally every day. She’s like, “Are you good? Are you going to be okay? We got this?” So just knowing that I have people in my corner that I can really talk to and express things that I need to express.

Is there a TV show or movie that you love watching to decompress?

Recently, I’ve been in Disney area. I’ve been watching Let It Shine so many times. I’ve watched Beauty and the Beast so many times. Sometimes I’ll go back to the old NCIS or Criminal Minds. It’s not just to watch them. It’s more of like a noise. I’ll be on my phone and listen to it. Those TV shows and those movies have really been on repeat for sure.

Is there a song you’ve been listening to that gets you pumped up?

I was on a wave of Beyoncé for a very long time. I’m a Beyhive, so obviously I listen to Beyoncé all the time, but going into Tokyo, my song that I was listening to was Megan Thee Stallion’s “Her.” It just felt right, like, “Okay, I am her. This is what I’m going to do,” type deal. This year, it’s mostly R&B and pop. So, SZA, Kehlani, H.E.R., and Ella Mai—women empowerment. I am not disowning male artists, you guys be doing your stuff, but female artists speak to me.
