Summer vacation may be in the rearview, but you don’t want to make the same mistakes you did on your last trip with that malfunctioning spinner wheel on your softside expandable carry-on that requires you to move in slow-mo, that hole in the lining of your duffel bag, or that strap that just won’t stay put no matter how many times you tie it tight. It’s time to buy a new bag, my guy, and Amazon Prime Day part two (or Amazon Big Deal Days for the well-acquainted) is just the time. To get you primed and in the shopping spirit, read on for what to know when it comes to Amazon Big Deal Days and how to shop for the best luggage deals.

FAQs
When is Amazon Prime Day?
Part two begins on October 8 and 9. We already had Amazon Prime Day back in July, but Amazon now also has an event called “Amazon Big Deal Days” that lands on October 8 and 9 this year. The second holiday event is a copy + paste of the July salesathon, so if you missed the July event, or if you’ve still been thinking about how you wish you’d have invested in a Samsung Frame TV, you’re in luck.
Do I need a membership to shop Prime Day?
Yeah, you do. It’s true that some sales are available to shoppers who don’t have a Prime membership, but to reap the full benefits, you’re going to need to snag a membership like the rest of us. In our opinion, though, the membership winds up being worth it because it gives you perks like free shipping and returns, plus access to the best deals, invite-only savings, and more. If you’re not sold yet, Big Deal Days is a great time to get a 30-day free trial of Prime to see if it’s worth it to you without having to fork over the full-year membership fee.
What are the best luggage brands on Amazon?
After combing through thousands of deals during the last Prime Day event, we found travel bags from Delsey Paris, TUMI, Thule, Travelpro, Rains, and Samsonite—all at their lowest prices ever. Buying travel essentials on Amazon is a mixed bag. If you’re looking for something like a weekender bag, toiletry bag, packing cubes, travel backpack, or regular-old black, hardshell carry-on luggage, you’ll probably find what you’re looking for. You may have to hunt a little harder if you’re looking for upright luggage with a USB port or three-piece luggage set in a specific hue.
That said, many popular luggage brands are often on sale on the ‘Zon, including Samsonite, Delsey Paris, Rockland, Bellroy, Travelpro, SwissGear, and American Tourister. You can also score deals from budget bag brands like AmazonBasics and Coolife. In addition, some of our favorite travel bags from brands like Tumi, Rains, and Thule occasionally pop up on Amazon, though inventory is often limited. However, you will not be able to buy popular bags from DTC luggage companies like Away, July, and Monos on Amazon, though this could change in the future (dream hard enough about that hardside spinner and perhaps it will appear).
We normally advise readers to steer clear of third-party sellers when shopping on Amazon. That said, luggage is one of the exceptions (unless you’re shopping for a designer brand, that is). You’ll often see luggage sold by third-party sellers like Portmantos or Pattern Products, which work directly with popular luggage brands to host their products on Amazon for your next getaway.
Do I need a membership to shop Prime Day?
Some sales will likely be available to all shoppers on Prime Day, but to take full advantage of this shopping event, you will need to be a Prime member. Not only does a membership give you perks like free shipping and returns, but members will also have access to the best deals, invite-only savings, and other benefits. If you’re a new member, you can sign up for a 30-day free trial to take advantage of Prime without a long-term commitment.
