The Housemaid: All About Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney's Spine-Tingling New Movie

The Housemaid is the next project for director Paul Feig (who made Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor, among others) and the movie promises to be filled with mystery and suspense.

The film is based on the best-selling novel by Freida McFadden, and stars two of the hottest actresses of the moment, Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.

This story of dark secrets and suspense follows a young woman who begins working for a wealthy family, but the job turns out to be much more complex than she expected as she becomes witness to a series of disturbing events and situations.

“Behind closed doors, she sees everything,” reads the novel’s tagline.

Here’s everything we know about the movie.

Who has been cast in The Housemaid?

So far, we know that Seyfried will play Nina, the owner of the house where Sweeney’s character, Millie, begins working while trying to escape her past. According to Deadline, the two stars will also executive produce.

The cast also features Brandon Skelnar, who appeared as Atlas Corrigan in It Ends With Us, and Michele Morrone, from 365 Days.

What is The Housemaid about?

The film’s synopsis simply states that it “follows a woman struggling to start over as a housemaid for a wealthy, elite couple. She soon learns that the family’s secrets are far more dangerous than her own.”

But as fans of the book know, the story follows Millie, who arrives to work in the home of the privileged and elegant Winchester family, and quickly begins to notice strange behavior as she becomes increasingly obsessed with the life of her boss Nina and the family dynamic, which she spies on without anyone noticing she is there.

Millie and Nina constantly clash and the two mess with each other’s lives, but the result of that power struggle and all those hidden secrets can be destructive in very unexpected ways.

Sounds twisty!
